Remote

Lying awake as I stare at the ceiling
I try to imagine what you could be feeling
about me tonight
but I don't even know where you are

I can't help feeling pathetic and lame
as I lose once again at the same stupid game
And I'd say "I'll be back soon"
but that would be going too far

Myself, I'm here
I hope that this is not the end
My mind, I fear
Lost in oblivion again

I can't see through all these games that we're playing
Please try to listen to what I am saying
In back of my mind
I know things are not quite what they seem

Remote control
I hate to be alone
Change the channel
and I will be back home

Info

This song was actually originally written by Rhys as a punk song, when him and Simon were in another band. We were jamming it at practice and Ralf said we should play it, but as a swing song. We did, but kept the fast, punk-y chorus, and it's a great song to play live. It's also on Crouton's first demo. The lyrics are about being away from someone special. Rhys wrote them when on holiday in Perth, soon after getting together with Emma, still his girlfriend.
